About

coffeetapeclimb_about_meAbout Coffee. Tape. Climb.:
Climbing withdrawal is real. It is a symptom of the “I’m not able to climb enough” disease that many of us non-professional climbers quickly fall victim to after catching the climbing bug. We have jobs, school, families, friends who don’t climb (well maybe not any more…), and other commitments like mowing the lawn, grocery shopping, and resting our unhappy tendons that keep us from enjoying the sport we love as much as we’d love to.
This website holds a collection of essays, how-tos, humor pieces, doodles, photos, and not-so-random YouTube videos to keep your climbing withdrawal symptoms in check and psych high for when you are able to play outside on rocks.

About Me: I’m a freelance writer, climber, and coffee-lover. I’m also a New England native; former intern for Rock and Ice and Climbing magazines; a #vanlifer; and future dog owner.

    Thank you!
I checked out your blog and really like how you took the time to give a humorous, yet comprehensive, explanation of what rock climbing is (https://hermitcrablifeblog.wordpress.com/what-is-rock-climbing/), and I’d like to link to it in one of my next posts. I’m also planning to make a CoffeeTapeClimb Friends section on the site in the next few months (once I’m no longer abroad) and will definitely add HermitCrab to the list!
    Best Wishes and Happy Climbing!

So amazing, your blog is really inspiring me to pick up climbing when i go to uni (free rock indoor rock climbing) 🙂 I was wondering if you could do a post about body/skin care products, etc. things that are useful when outdoors!? Thank you 🙂

You should definitely try out climbing at uni! I got hooked on climbing my first semester of college, and the sport and the people I’ve meet through it have given me most of my favorite experiences since.
I like your idea about posting more about climbing/outdoor skin care products. My go to camping hygiene product is wet wipes (more info here: https://coffeetapeclimb.com/2016/02/16/the-seven-summer-climbing-trip-essentials/), and my favorite climbing salve is Climb On, which you’ve inspired me to write a product review of, so look for that in the next few weeks!

I stumbled upon your blog via your Instagram account. I’ve read through many of your posts, and by many I mean almost all of them. I really enjoy your writing style and of course your subject.

But it looks as if we have swapped places! I am from Colorado, went to school in Boulder, but now live in Boston. When I am back in Colorado, maybe we can get in a good session and I can hear about some more of your witty comments on climbing. Keep on posting! Love it!

      AJ,
I’m so glad you like the blog! And we definitely have swapped places. I hope you like living in the Northeast! I miss climbing at Rumney, though living in Boulder is fantastic.

I’d love to meet and climb with you when you’re back visiting. Shoot me a message, and we can meet up.

NIce to see your blog. I’m trying to get my 4.5 year old daughter into climbing so blogs by women climbers are very welcome; keep up the great work! I’ll keep checking this out and showing it to her!

Samir, I hope your daughter loves climbing! She’s going to be amazing in a few years if she sticks with it, and she’s lucky to be growing up in such an inspirational time for young female climbers, with Margo Hayes and so many strong women setting new standards for the sport.

Liz, I hope so too; I hope to keep putting her in the company of women climbers so that I can fade out and she can associate climbing with bad-ass women like yourself as opposed to just her boring ol’ Dad!

  6. Liz! This is totally random, but like a year ago I met you and a friend of yours out bouldering in the Flatirons. You gave me beta (per request) and then invited me to work on something impossibly hard with you! Stumbled across your blog, recognized your face, and wanted to say thanks for being as funny and joyful a human in real life as you are in writing 🙂
